In this review I will tell you about the electronic cigarette OBS BAT Kit. If you like various kinds of LED lights in boxing mods, then this device will most likely have to your liking. Power mode is 218 W, power is provided by two batteries of the size 18650.
The kit comes in a beautiful yellow cardboard box.
The package is as follows:
1. Box mod
2. Damo atomizer with evaporator installed
3. USB charging and flashing cable mod
4. Spare evaporator
5. Spare glass
6. Set of spare lenses
7. Adapter for 510 drip type
9. Authentication card with warning
10. A bag of silica gel
In the sale of the mod is available in five colors: red, yellow, black, white and blue.
Main characteristics of the mod:
Dimensions: 90 x 46 x 32 mm
Weight: 180 g
Output power range: 7-218 W
Output voltage: 0.1 – 8.4 V
Supported resistance: 0.1 – 2 Ohm (In the modes of thermal control and varivatta )
Temperature range: 100 – 315 ° C (200 – 600 ° F) The
mod is made in a fully metal casing, due to which it weighs slightly more than 180 grams, another 100 grams are added by accumulators. Dimensions of the mod also not small, not everyone will be comfortable to hold in his hand. But I have this one of the favorite form factors. My favorite mod is IPV8 from Pioneer4you. The OBS mod is slightly wider and slightly thicker, but it’s just fine in the hand. Immediately creates the feeling that you hold in your hand a normal mod, and not some kind of plastic toy. In the upper part of the fashion, in the center, there is a 510 connector with a spring-loaded brass pin. Here you can install a tank with a diameter of up to 28 mm, larger tanks will bulge beyond the edge of the mod.
On the front of the mod is a display, below it are two buttons, just below the USB port for charging and reflashing the mod. And the main distinguishing feature of the mod is the LED indication. Above and below the display there are LED inserts that glow evenly. On some mods with LEDs, the LEDs glow with dots, which looks so-so, here it looks much more beautiful. The LEDs light when the mod is turned on and when the fire button is pressed. In the menu, you can choose the color of the LEDs or completely disable them. There are 7 colors in total.
On the side is a massive fire button. Dimensions of the button 12 x 12 mm. The button protrudes beyond the body dimensions by about 1.5 mm, making it convenient to press even in gloves. It is pressed clearly, with a click. To push it, you need to apply a little more effort than pressing the fire button on most mods. The button does not play at all.
On the back side there is a battery compartment, access to it is carried out by removing the massive cover on four magnets. In the cover there are two slots for discharging the battery gases. The holes are closed with a perforated sheet. In some modes, the battery compartment cover inside is not covered with paint, apparently because if you do not climb inside, you can not see it. Here, the lid has a high-quality coating on both sides, only the exterior of the paint is additionally varnished, but inside there is none.
On the sides of the mod are slotted so that the battery compartment lid can be easily caught with a fingernail. The cover is symmetrical and you do not have to try to install it as it was when installing it. In both positions, the magnets hold the cover equally strong. Even if the mod strongly shake, the lid does not fly off.
Separately, I note that after installation, the lid is absolutely not playable and is installed without any gaps, in this respect the body is made very well. Inside the battery compartment we see a ribbon, for convenient removal of batteries. For the tight clamping of the batteries, there are 4 spring-loaded contacts. On the inner wall we see an image of the batteries with the indicated polarity.
Showed the fashion from all angles, left the bottom. It’s nothing unusual. The area is sufficient for the mod to stand and not to fall at the slightest grazing. In one of the mods I tested, there was such a disadvantage that when you screwed the evaporator, it was hardly worthwhile to shake the table, and the mod was falling.
Turns on the mode from the standard press of the fire button. During activation, the LEDs light up first in red, then in green, then in blue.
The rest of the control is slightly different from the standard one. When you press the button again five times, the mode goes into lock mode.
To enter the menu, press the fire button three times. There are 5 main items in the menu:
1. The first menu tab allows you to work with the backlight. Here you can choose the color of the highlight or completely disable it.
2. Selecting the steaming mode, varivatt or thermal control.
3. Manage puffs. With this function, you can lock the mode when the specified number of puffs is reached.
4. Submenu settings. Allows you to adjust the screen time, contrast or reset the settings to the default settings. In the same menu item, you can turn on stealth mode.
5. This menu item turns off the mod. Just like in my favorite IPV8, although it is not very convenient.
At simultaneous pressing of the button of the fire and + or – we get into the preheating settings menu. Yes, two combinations of buttons lead to the same result. Here you can choose only a weak, normal or strong pre-heating degree.
The modem has the following protections:
1. When tightened for more than 10 seconds, the mode disconnects the voltage supply to the evaporator.
2. Protection against short circuit.
3. Protection against overheating.
4. Protection against recharging of batteries.
While charging batteries, the mod can be used.
Consider the tank.
In this case, it is maintenance-free, without any significant differences from other similar tanks in terms of the transfer of taste and the amount of steam. And in terms of design there are two features. The first is connected with refueling. For refueling, you need to pull up the top cap. It moves up and down quite smoothly. The hole for filling is large enough, almost 4 mm in height and 10 mm in width. Under the hole is a silicone seal ring. The hole is marked with an arrow. Straight under the engraving “OBS” on the top cap. The capacity of the tank is 5ml. The diameter of the tank is 25 mm, height 55 mm, weight 49 grams.
The tank is available in four colors. Steel, black, gold, blue.
The second feature is related to the driptip. It is non-standard, slightly more than the 510th. For those who want to use the 510th dripper, there is an adapter in the kit. And already installed driptip and adapter have two sealing silicone rings, due to which a sufficient cloth is installed.
The default is a three-spiral evaporator with a resistance of 0.2 ohms, designed for a power of 40-80 W, below is indicated the optimal power of 50-70 W. Also included is a single-helical evaporator with a resistance of 0.4 Ohm, designed for a power of 30-50 W, below is indicated the optimal power of 35-45 W. Glass pyrex, top and bottom are placed oringi, as usual. In the kit there is another spare glass and a few more rings.
At the bottom there is a ring for adjusting the blowing. The blowing holes are located on both sides. The ring turns smoothly.
In the following photos, you can view the bottom of the tank. Nothing unusual, brass pin and engraved brand.
Let us consider the oscillograms of the mode operation.
When the mode is on, the resistance of the evaporator is measured continuously, to be precise, this happens 2 times per second. On some modes, for example, on the DNA200 board, the resistance is measured directly when the fire button is pressed. This option is more pleasant to me, but also in the way, as the fashion under review, too, there is nothing wrong with the battery, this method of measurement should not be spent much. As far as I remember, the Wismec RX300 metering process was also realized exactly. The resistance of the modes measures with a slight overstatement, for example, if the evaporator indicates 0.5 ohms, then according to the measurements of the mode 0.51 Ω, if 0.2 Ω, it shows 0.21 Ω. Less than 0.1 Ohm has not tested, but 0.12 Ohms pulls normally.
The following oscillograms show the operation of the mode in the varivatt mode for 35, 100 and 218 W. We see that the voltage is applied exactly, without any failures or emissions.
And in the following photos, it is possible to examine in more detail voltage pulsations for the same powers of 35, 100 and 218 W.
As I said, mod is very good in the hand. It is convenient to press the fire button with both thumb and forefinger, depending on how to hold the mod. Amenities add the fact that the button does not need to grope, it’s big and as you do not take the mod, then the thumb immediately falls on the button. It is especially convenient when using fashion in gloves. For two weeks of using the mod I did not reveal any glitches in his work. Separately, once again I will note the high quality of production. The disadvantages of fashion can only include the price, which, most likely, will soon decline.
